Does your cat have “pee problems”? Acupuncture may help.

Acupuncture and Cat Urinary Problems.jpg

If you own an indoor male cat between the ages of 1 and about 10, you may have had the unfortunate experience of rushing to the emergency room at some point because he was suddenly unable to pee. Females are also affected by this condition, called Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) but thanks to anatomy, they rarely "block" and create a life-threatening emergency for themselves like the boys do.

The most common early sign of FLUTD is having urinary accidents outside the litterbox, with or without blood, or making many frequent trips to the litterbox. FLUTD is multi-factorial, and it's management involves mitigation of stress, environmental enrichment, and fluid and dietary management.

I use acupuncture in Wesley, my own 5 year old FLUTD kitty, to normalize or help achieve balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, to help support immune system homeostasis, and to reduce anxiety and stress, all equally important in the chronic management of this common feline condition.

Dogs with certain “pee problems” can also benefit from acupuncture. Inquire for more information today!
