Pets make workouts look easy when they have the right incentives!

“A tired dog is a good dog” - A common sentiment

Many pets don’t like going to veterinary offices, so we’ve designed a space that feels more fun and comfortable for pets and their humans. Pets work out with their owners, and receive treatments in an environment that promotes relaxation and stimulation, depending on their needs.

Medical Fitness can take your pet’s care to the next level

Ruff Day’s Medical Fitness service is a customized, doctor-directed clinical exercise program. Exercise regimens are personalized to address any neurological and/or physiological impairments that your pet may have. These exercises tend to focus on building balance, strength, and endurance. Just like a good exercise program for humans, having a structured fitness plan for your pet helps improve their mental and physical health, improves energy levels and overall mood, and having an in-shape body helps prevent injuries and illnesses.

Some of the exercises I do with pets should only be performed by a skilled therapist, but many are safe enough with sufficient benefit to be taught to pet owners as part of the home exercise program.

This program is not for everybody! With any human fitness program, like it or not, we get out of it what we put into it. The difference for our pets is that they get out of it what we, their human caretakers, put into it. This program is ideally suited to people who have a strong dedication to improving their pet’s physical health and well-being, extending their pet’s life and healthspan, and are willing to dedicate 10-20 minutes every single day to following a customized exercise plan for their pet, with semi-regular in-home training sessions with the doctor.

Ruff Day Pet Gym: Where good things happen for pets

At Ruff Day, we make exercising a blast! But a good fitness or rehabilitation program for your pet does so much more than fill them (and you!) with glee. These programs build strength and endurance, helping treat active injuries, and/or protect the body against future injuries. They provide mental stimulation to bored or anxious dogs, and can help with unwanted pet behaviors that develop in the home. They build confidence in fearful dogs or dogs with anxiety disorders. They build trusting relationships between animal and human, ideal for newly adopted pets, especially those who have suffered from abandonment in the past. And finally, these programs give pet owners more control over the health and wellness of their pet, while strengthening the human-animal bond.
